Greetings.

The Short Order has not been updated in many months. However, we are in the process of introducing a new Editor to these pages. This particular Journal webpage may not see any further updates from the Editor as our new Editor will be concentrating on the Newsletter while I will be maintaining the website. Please see each new edition of the newsletter here on the website ( or subscribe to the email edition ) for updates and news from the Editor of The Short Order.

Thanks for your support -- R.K.Foster - Former Ed. and Webmaster.

I’ve incorporated into the site the email editions of the Back Issues of The Short Order so that at least the articles are here on the website and searchable. Use the Table of Contents page or the Back Issues page to find the links labelled “Email Edition” under each issue heading.

We have also added new links on our Sponsors page. You will now find links to J.Alec West’s new and improved Mystery Vault and Mystery Vault Morgue. These sites offer a searchable archive of mystery related material.

We also have a new Announcement about “The Writers Daily Quote”. Check it out.

Thanks for your support -- R.K.Foster - Ed.

Well, it’s finally here, time for the latest issue of The Short Order. It’s a very Special Edition this time around. Check out the current Editorial for details on the new Issue.

The April issue has been relegated to the Back Issue area and a few updates made to pages and layouts. A search form has been added to every page.

I have noticed some technical problems with the search box that now appears on virtually every page of The Short Order. This is a technical limitation which I hope to solve in future. This problem can be avoided by going directly to the Search Page and typing in your search criteria there. There appears to be no technical problem with the Search page itself.

During the latter part of 1998 I found myself without a computer with which to maintain The Short Order website. Many people visited this website and wondered what the heck was going on, as it was basically frozen at November 1998, or some such time.

Once I was back online in March of 1999, many of the previous features, styles, and content of The Short Order had to be recreated from backups and archives. I basically decided to start over from scratch and redesign the website. Today I am nearing the completion of that redesign.

Except for the Back Issues of the Netletter which are still offline, most of the website is now in it’s latest form. We have a new issue of TSO coming out in early September 1999, just a few weeks from this writing. I hope you, the reader, will subscribe to the email edition or visit us again in early September.

Feel free to let me know what you think of the new layout, organization, and content. You can use the “Letter to the Editor” form or email me at <rkfoster@ix.netcom.com>. Also, please take our Survey if you have a few minutes. I plan to change the survey on a regular basis.

Thanks for your support -- R.K.Foster - Ed.
