We’re a Web Design Company?! So what’s with all the sailboats?

Some people may find it strange that the title of our company is “Windjammer”, especially as we are a web design company. Originally we would get a lot of enquiries from people who thought we were “Windjammer Barefoot Cruises”. We are not that company or related in any way to them except in similarity of the name. It’s also a source of some frustration that many of the Google advertisements that come up on our site have to do with ocean cruises and similar things. Oh well, technology isn’t perfect.

The owner’s background was in the Northeast United States where sailing was a frequent pastime, especially in our youth. We love old tall ships and felt that they were the perfect symbol of the entrepreneurial spirit that built the United States of America. Thus the name “Windjammer Company” was born.

We are a New Media Design company based in Massachusetts, USA specializing in developing, designing, and maintaining web sites and related media for individuals, small businesses, and non-profit organizations. We continually strive to make the web sites we develop unique in comparison to other web sites on the Internet. You may be able to get a cheaper web site elsewhere but it will likely look the same as a dozen others on the Web.

The Windjammer Company was originally founded as a sole proprietorship by Robert K. Foster in the late 1980’s. The company is located in Lansing, Michigan, USA and in 2006 we changed legal status and became Windjammer Company LLC. Robert K. Foster is the CEO of Windjammer Company LLC.
