Some History of the Company

The Windjammer Company, LLC website was established in 1997 as a foothold in the new territory of the World Wide Web. The original company started out creating web sites related to the Mystery/Crime Fiction field, as that was one of the interests of the Owner, Robert K. Foster, at the time. Currently we maintain the online mystery/crime fiction webzine NEFARIOUS - Tales Of Mystery.

We’re a Web Design Company?! So what’s with all the sailboats?

Some people may find it strange that the title of our company is “Windjammer”, especially as we are based in Michigan, USA. Originally we would get a lot of enquiries from people who thought we were “Windjammer Barefoot Cruises”. We are not that company or related in any way to them except in similarity of the name.

The owner’s background was in the Northeast United States where sailing was a frequent pastime, especially in our youth. We love old tall ships and felt that they were the perfect symbol of the entrepreneurial spirit that built this country. Thus the name “Windjammer Company” was born.

What Is New Media Design?

Who We Are

The Windjammer Company was originally founded as a sole proprietorship by Robert K. Foster in the late 1980’s. The company is located in Lansing, Michigan, USA and in 2006 we changed legal status and became Windjammer Company LLC. Robert K. Foster is the CEO of Windjammer Company LLC.
